Learner drivers allowed on motorways
August 14th, 2017 by Linda Edwards
As from 2018 learner drivers will be allowed on motorways with an approved driving instructor in a dual controlled car to help develop skills before their test.
This decision has come about due to a number of new drivers not feeling ready to drive on these fast roads or starting to drive on motorways after passing their test with no supervision and not fully understanding how to handle them, putting themselves and others at risk.
This new rule is to help students develop skills of driving on fast roads and better prepare them for driving in all situations after test pass but it will be voluntary and only when the instructor feels the pupil is ready to undertake those types of roads.
